JULIUS MENDOZA

BIO

Julius discovered his rhythm at the age of 9, immersing himself in the world of drumming. Growing up, he honed his skills alongside his parents’ cover band, absorbing the diverse styles of drummers. Post-graduation, he ventured into the punk rock/grunge scene with friends, sparking a journey into the heart of Tampa’s rock music scene.

Transitioning through local rock bands, Julius found like-minded musicians, creating sonic landscapes in the vibrant Tampa music scene. In 2003, he returned to his roots, joining his parents’ cover band, showcasing versatility across pop, dance, rock, and classic rock genres.

The rhythm took an unexpected turn in 2006 when Julius auditioned for the Blue Man Group, adding a unique beat to his musical repertoire. Embracing the art of traditional Japanese drumming, he joined Tampa Taiko in 2009, infusing cultural diversity into his drumming journey.

Currently, as the heartbeat of Weapons of Anew, Julius combines his diverse drumming experiences into a powerful fusion, driving the band’s dynamic sound. His rhythm journey is not just a beat; it’s a story told through the heartbeat of rock.
